Disposing of Unwanted Books
It's always a great idea to get rid of things you don't need anymore prior to your move date. Extra books definitely fall into this category. Books have a way of piling up and just add to your box count on move day. An option would be to recycle, sell or swap them!
Recycling Books:
Many companies can recycle books especially if they are not in usable condition. Check out the website at Book-Destruction.com to find out more about their recycling process.
Donating Books:
What a great option to share with others who are less fortunate. You can always check to donate books to public libraries, churches, daycare centers or other local charities. Another great website is Better World Books - they pay for the shipping so that your books can be dispersed through worldwide literacy projects.
Swapping Books:
Sites like Book Crossing swap books that you have read with one's that you haven't. You might also suggest a Book Swap for your child's class and a fun activity for the kids!
Selling Books:
Visit your local Half Price Books and actually receive cash for your trade-ins. Amazon.com, eBay and Barnes & Nobles also offer programs to sell your unwanted books.
As you can see there is an option for just about everyone so keep literacy flowing!
